Season's Greetings!!!

Starting on Monday, we will begin the twelve days of December celebration to count down to break. At the end of each day we will tell the students what the next day's surprise activity will be.  Monday is electronics day. Just like our party before, the students are able to bring in an electronic device to play at school for a specified amount of time.  

As a heads up, we will be taking a winter walk on Thursday the 10th. Please make sure your child has the appropriate clothes and garments so they are able to participate in this event.

Also, our class is going to the holiday shop on Tuesday, December 8th. Please send them with their money and a list of whom to buy for on that morning.  Thank you!!!

In the spirit of the season, I want to say that I am SO thankful to you all. Every year I am blessed with amazing families and just the sweetest kids! Thank you for all that you do for the kids and our community. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Scholastic Book Orders

Book order forms are coming home next week. Please submit your order to me or at scholastic.com by the end of this month. If your order is a gift, please let me know ahead of time. I will bag it for you and leave it at the front desk. Thanks!

The Week Ahead

Next week we will be working on a few DRA's to check on reading progress.  In writing, we are learning about and using transition words to help with organization. Math will have us moving into Unit 3. This unit's focus is on adding and subtracting and working on word(story) problems.

Next Week

We will be starting Unit 2 in math. The Unit 1 math assessment will be coming home Monday for you to see how your child did in our first unit of number sense.

We are wrapping up our worm investigations. The worms will be set free to burrow before it gets too cold.

High Frequency Words (sight words) will be assessed to identify how many your child can read and write independently.

The Halloween Party is Friday at 9:15. Please arrive by 9:10 so we can start on time: ).

Red Ribbon Week

Monday thru Friday is Red Ribbon Week. We acknowledge and celebrate being drug free. The fight for our kiddos to make good choices is on going. Each day represents a new way to remember our pledge to keep healthy!

Food Drive

This week is the first of many food drives we sponsor throughout the year to benefit the Cadet Cupboard.  Any nonperishable food item is accepted.  Thank you for your generosity.  As we get closer to the holidays, it becomes harder for some of us to contribute.  If you are able, please help our class fill up our box : ).

October Homework is Here!

The new pack for October Homework is here. Each month your child will receive a new pack for that particular month.  The previous month's packet can be used at home. It does not need to come back to school.

Open House

Great to meet everyone!!

Wow! I had a fantastic time meeting everyone!!! It was so amazing to see the families that are raising these amazing human beings I work with each day.  Thank you all for coming out to support our school, our class and your kids!

Library

Library is every other week. We just had our session this week, so we won't be going again until the week of the 12th.  Please send in your child's library book on Tuesday the 13th.  We will schedule a special time that week since we usually go Mondays.  The next time we will go after that is Monday the 26th.

Open House

Schedule Change

Open House is on September 30th.  The allotted time for first grade open house is from 6 - 7 pm. A flyer will be coming home with time allotments for grade levels.  Please be looking for this.

Pre-Assessments

Over the next few days, we will be conducting pre-assessments to help understand your child's learning. Then, it enables us to know how we need to group students, what needs your child has, and how best to meet those needs. These days can be long so we are doing a lot of moving to accommodate the time needed to focus.  Your kids have been troupers!
